Born and raised in Vancouver, my early years were spent on the rugged coast of BC with my commercial fishing family. Some of my best memories were exploring desolated coves in a rowboat with my sisters, oyster picking by lantern light at night and the times we were out so far from shore that land was not visible.
These memories instilled in me a deep appreciation for the natural world and its incredible beauty. I used my mother’s B&W Brownie to capture these incredible images but of course the images were considerably basic compared to the high resolution of today's cameras.
My journey as a professional photographer began after retiring from a career as a teaching assistant for the Vancouver school board. The transition allowed me to embrace my lifelong passion for photography and bring it to the forefront of my life.
With formal education and training in visual arts from Emily Carr, Kwantlen College and Indian Hills university I have honed my skills and developed a deep understanding of the visual language of photography.
Over the past few years, as my style evolves, my favourite genre is the intimate portrait. I aim to capture the true essence of people, whether it be in a cheerful background adorned with vibrant flowers, a dark shadowy black velvet composition or a shot in nature, I've embraced a wide range of styles to tell unique stories through my lens.
